LondonEats.com Review:
A Tio Pepe Carlton Award Winner 2003. Chutney Mary's innovative approach to Indian cuisine is still making our mouths water, no matter how many times we go. Try dishes such as lobster samosa, crab cakes, lamb shank xacuti and a more traditional chicken biriani. It also has a great wine list.
Expect to pay between £10 and £16 for a main course. There is also a set 2 course lunch for £11.50.

manchery Wednesday, June 25, 2008 | Rating: I have been to Chutney Mary's several times and like it very much. Their sister restaurant, Veeraswamy, is very good as well. My usual favorite is to have the Mangalorean fish curry (or prawn curry) - this is not always on the menu and you have to ask for it to be made (the secret is that it is then made to order). Their grilled prawns and mutton are very good too. I like sitting in the garden section of the restaurant (usually empty during lunch hours) - expect to pay upwards of 30 pounds for a meal (2008) - so this is a special treat and not a restaurant you go to for a quick bite. 6138 |
Anne Bond Tuesday, September 07, 2004 | Rating: I had wanted to visit this restaurant for ages, so was thrilled when my husband booked us there for a special treat whilst in London for the weekend. We knew it was going to be expensive but thought it would be worth it. What a disappointment! Our starters were nice, prawns in a spicy sauce, and king scallop in a mustard and chilli sauce; although for £9.50 one scallop is pretty mean. The main courses consisted of lamb steak in a 23 spice sauce and King Prawns Bangalore. The lamb was shank, not steak, cooked separately and placed on top of the sauce, so had no particular flavour. The prawn dish had three prawns in it, and had a horrible sickly sweet after-taste from the coconut (which I usually like), and as the dish had tamarind in it, I did not expect it to be so sweet. A side dish of spinach which sounded very interesting on the menu was like slop. I could not eat my dinner, and the waiter dismissed my comments, saying "You like more spicy food" A huge disappointment, and we won't be back. 2563 |
claire cowlishaw Saturday, March 27, 2004 | Rating: As I am a rather large fan of indian food I must say that the green curry was excellent, but must say that when I got to the bottom step of the resturant I nearly fell over in shock that it was so nice. Shame I dont live closer would love to be come a regular visitor. 1985 |

Stanley Thursday, February 27, 2003 | Rating: Exceptional food of great subtlety and varied flavours. The restaurant is very pretty. Service was knowledgeable. It is for a special evening out - since it is not cheap. But better value than the celebrity chef french / modern british restaurants 855 |
