LondonEats.com Review:
Try from dishes like fish soup, calamari, whitebait, mushy peas, skate, halibut, Dover sole and of course chips. It's difficult to spend over £15 for 3 courses and drinks.

Susan Wednesday, June 07, 2006 | Rating: Why on Earth are people slating this place? This is the best fish and chips I've found in a long while. The fish is fresh and well seasoned and the chips are really good. There are nice little seats to sit on outside (which are mostly clean - especially now the council's moved its bin) and the fish cakes are homemade and good, too. It's so, so rare to find good fish and chips - go here, it's wonderful. I know I probably sound like one of the owners here, but just try it - I'm not and I think about this place several times a week. I just love it. 4437 |
angela salt Tuesday, May 30, 2006 | Rating: Having really enjoyed the "old" Sea Shell many years ago was very dissapointed by quality and brusque service on my recent visit. I doubt I shall go there again nor recommend to anyone else - what a shame!4421 |
GEOFF NICHOLSON Wednesday, March 29, 2006 | Rating: I have eaten at this restaurant many many times and have always been pleased. The food was hot and very good, as a Brit living in America I cannot understand one of the latest reveiws, obviously the person had no idea what good fish and chips taste like, and if he had problems using his credit card, perhaps he did not realise he was speaking in a foreign language and could not be understood. Thanks again, see you in September. 4197 |
Ceri Harrison Thursday, July 21, 2005 | Rating: Atrocious customer service – I thought the woman was going to throw me out when I needed to pay by card, she stormed off half way through ordering, and practically threw the tray of chips at me. I was taking them back to work, so I wanted them wrapped. I asked her for them wrapped, and she glared at me before throwing the whole lot in a paper bag and pushing it across the counter. The staff have a SERIOUS attitude problem. When I saw the portion of chips, I checked with her that it was a large portion – it was less than half the price of an average small portion. A hungry person could easily eat 4 of their large portions in a sitting. That is, if you want to… I ended up throwing most of mine away because they were hard in the middle, they hadn’t even been cooked properly. Perhaps if this restaurant spent less money on facny bags, and advertising, and more on its staff and its chips, the food would become edible. As it stands, someone should suggest to the US military moving Seashell to Guatanamo Bay – I’d certainly describe a visit to Seashell as torture! 3462 |
R. Herbert Tuesday, April 05, 2005 | Rating: Wife and I ate at the standup counter in the take-away section. Chips were crisp and one regular portion was enough for both of us. The fish was well cooked and the batter was crisp. We had eaten here about eighteen months ago on a previous visit to London. Had read the less glowing reviews, but decided to try it anyway. Glad we did. Although the counter server was not overly friendly, the place was clean and the food was excellent.3220 |
