LondonEats.com Review:
The specials here include plaice, red mullet and trout served with big fat crispy chips. There has been a chippy at this site since 1871 and customers are a mixture of tourist and theatre goers.

Customer reviews of Rock And Sole Plaice
AleksanderL Friday, July 02, 2010 | Rating: Ridiculously overpriced. I don't understand the rave reviews this place gets because it is very undeserving of them. I couldn't believe how expensive it was and when it came I was very disappointed. The fish and chips served here would be standard out of London and cost a fraction of the price. Very average.7631 |
Stephen Moorby Saturday, March 21, 2009 | Rating: Overpraised (in eating guides) and so overpriced. Fish not always as fresh as it could be, service often surly. Decent chips, fish well fried. Worth considering if you're in the area and you must have fish and chips.7054 |
Nigel Templeman Sunday, September 12, 2004 | Rating: I have visited this restaurant three times. The service is quite good, the food is average (at best) and value is poor. To an outsider/tourist coming to London for the first time, they'll have an enjoyable experience of thr Great British Meal. However, if you don't mind the trek, and you want Q U A L I T Y F&C there is only one place - Faulkner's. 2590 |
congokid Tuesday, June 01, 2004 | Rating: Come on, mr anonymous of September 2002. Rock & Sole Plaice expensive? So - where else in London's Covent Garden can you get this sort of quality fish and chips delivered to your table? I really enjoyed my meal there recently (May bank holiday 2004). kweb4 Friday, May 28, 2004 | Rating: I have visited London 6 times, and I discovered The Rock and Sole Plaice on my second visit. I loved it then, and have made it a point to eat there once each trip thereafter. It's no longer owned by a born-and-bred Brit as it was during my first trip over 15 years ago, and they no longer send take-out orders away in a newspaper wrap, but the food is every bit as good as it always has been, and the ambience is fabulous! It's outside, shaded seating is an oasis in the middle of the bustle of the city. A real gem.2216 |
