LondonEats.com Review:
Busy, upbeat and the food surpasses expectations. The potato skins, vegeburger and baby back ribs were tasty. Not your average tourist trap, but the service can be slow on busy nights.Payment

H Cowie Monday, November 10, 2008 | Rating: Was so dissapointed with Maxwells. Booked for 5.30 and still not sat down at 6.00pm even though they knew we were at the theatre. I had paid a £50 deposit and thought the staff could have a better effort at sitting us down. We ordered of the theatre special menu which is dearer than what is on the website and literally have to shove it down our throats. We asked for the bill when main course arrived which looked like they had been dolloped onto plates very quickly and left the restaurant with 5mins to get to theatre. I would not reccomend going to Maxwells as they ovbiously dont care about the reservation policy that they promote.6456 |
Kirsty Wednesday, May 21, 2008 | Rating: I went there with some friends and we had a fantastic time...the staff were really friendly and punctual with serving up the food...we had a few problems with this guy that was incessantly bothering my friend and the manager dealt with it really professionally and made sure we were safely seen back to the tube...it was a really good night...definately reccommend it..6053 |
Reuben Saturday, October 23, 2004 | Rating: I dined at maxwells last week to celebrate my girlfriends birthday with our friends on a thursday night. I informed the host on arrival of the special ocasion (who turned out to be neil the manager) and was treated fantastically throughout. The food was great and at a good pace and enjoyed a whole bunch of great drinks from the menu. Will definatly return and have already wrote a letter to the owner giving a pat on the back for getting it right with the menu and more importantly the team that make it happen. Go tonight.2729 |
Honor Burza Wednesday, August 25, 2004 | Rating: One particular waiter is extremely welcoming and always with a smile on his face.(Clark Kent look alike in his glasses?) Always willing to give his personal opinion of which drink or food to go for. Offered free entry tickets to the Road House and recommended I wait 10 mins until 5pm for happy hour!! Love the cocktails and DJ on Sat night sas great. I'll keep coming back. 2521 |
Saturday, March 27, 2004 | Rating: We were there after a trip to the wedding show & sat at the bar for 15 minutes which was fine. Sat down at the table & 20 minutes later (excessive) the waiter who had been tidying up & tending to other customers came over for our order. We placed both the starter & main courses- nachos & 2 steaks- 1 ribeye medium and another sirloin rare with peppercorn sauce. The starter arrive in a decent time but before we had finished a waiter was there with the main courses- the ribeye never arrived instead 2 sirloins. We were told the wrong order had been taken despite him actually coming back to us during the starter to ask me if it was ok if the steak was in 2 pieces! My freind had to sit with hers and I was told mine would not be long- she had time to finish her meal & the waiter avoided us for the duration. The manager arrived to apologise & we cancelled the 2nd meal as it was just too embarrassing. She offered a complimentary desert but no waiter arrived to take the order! 20 minutes later we left after having paid the bill- my friend's meal had been taken off as her order had arrived with the wrong sauce & well done as opposed to rare! We had very poor service & I was upset & embarrassed as it was meant to be a nice meal out with a friend. Instead I had nothing as the starter was not mine & my friend felt awful having to sit there and be the only one eating. A token apology but not even able to order our complimentary desert! Would not go there again & still feel that I should not have had to pay at all!
