Rating: Excellent service and Food was delicious. It's a perfect place to have decent dinner. The waiting staffs were delightful and attentive with excellently crafted food. The House Special was well spiced and balanced as any we've ever had, and the vegetable rice made an interesting change from plain pilau. Definitely will visit this restaurant again. Top marks all round.7400

Rating: I was extremely impressed by The Golden Oven. In particular, the waiting staffs were highly attentive and very helpful. The menu had a lot of food but the staffs were able to help us with the selection and the choices that were made were spot on. The food tasted very nice and fresh. Overall we were treated as guest in their house which made the evening very pleasant. Hope to visit again keep up the hard work. 7280

Rating: I was planning to give 10 out of 10 but thought 9 would be reasonable. The Golden Oven was a great choice and it certainly impressed my friends who were very surprised to find a quality Indian restaurant in the heart of London. The service was polite and prompt and the food was excellent and fresh. The only down side is that the restaurant is small but very cosy. We will definitely be going back.7089

Rating: Our meal was simply sublime. All four of us agreed it was the best Indian restaurant we'd been to in London. We ordered food from mild to very hot, and all dishes were spiced exquisitely and delivered fantastic, fresh flavours. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and there were extra touches that made it a very special meal. Highly recommended.7019

Rating: Food was actually quite nice, but the staff were absolutely terrible. They were aggressive, pushy and downright rude (and no, that wasn't just one waiter - it seemed to be most of them). Tablecloths were dirty, splashed with grease patches. In the end we refused to pay the service charge - the staff got particular rude at that point even though we rationalised why. I would not recommend this place in the slightest - I expect they trade on the back of their location which means they don't have to rely on repeat custom. 7001

Rating: The service at Golden Oven was excellent with very friendly and efficient waiters. They served very hot and tasty food which was not too spicy. (Then again I ordered a mild curry) The only criticism was that the table was not large enough to hold all the food! We look forward to returning soon.6976

Rating: What an awful place... We were slightly apprehensive to go in there in the first place because there was only customer eating (Saturday evening in Soho) (always a bad sign in Soho) but were bullied to go in by the doorman. Service was slow and the food quality could be described as (below) 'takeway standard'. For the price we paid for a vegetarian set meal for two, it was a total rip-off. The menu said that a dessert AND coffee would be included in the set meal but that turned out to be just a cheap chocolate bar that you'd get after paying the bill anyway. When challenging the ridiculously overpriced bill, the staff turned very aggressive and started to accuse us. Sounds like other people have had a similar experience with this restaurant. My recommendation: avoid the Golden Oven at any cost ;) 5103

Rating: What is the point of this review site if the moderator removes reviews that point out how bad a "restaurant" is? As soon as you point out hte flaws in the level of hygiene of disgraceful staff, your review is deleted - Well done Democracy!!! Note from LondonEats.com - all reviews are included except when they include non-constructive comments like "this place should be burnt down". Reviews are also deleted when obviously by the same person on the same day. 4952

Rating: It's normally a good place, I promise!! A truly odd experience this night however. It's never a good sign to when a curry house in Soho is completely empty at pub chucking out time. They looked closed but said we could come in (that was our first mistake!) - as long as we were very quick !! They lived up to their end of the bargain with food that came out almost as soon as we ordered it (and this having been told that we would have to wait for the 'chef' to fire up the ovens again). Our attempts to order our preferred dishes were swiftly batted away with their desire to upsell us on overy order, must have just been what they had left. A request for 2 beers was met with a derisory snort and 3 bottles instead. My colleague's insistence on arguing the bill with them introduced an air of menace. Otherwise a fun evening and the food tasted okay (to a person who had been drinking all evening!)The high(ish) ambience score is reflected by the fun we have had today reliving the experience with colleagues. 4900

Rating: The worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to. The service was hurried, the portions tiny (Lamb Rogan Josh?? Think two cubes of 'meat' with dolmio sauce on top). The food came out 2 minutes after we ordered - fresh out the microwave. We were overcharged... Don't go there - it's dreadful.4886

Rating: We were not happy with aspects of our meal so we refused to pay the service charge. We asked to speak to the manager and were told he was not there. the staff and management held us hostage and called the police. They lied and said we had tried to leave without paying the bill. It turned out that the "manager" was there all along and lied to us. The police were not amused. They were the losers though because for the same of £6.20 they lost customers because no-one wanted to eat in a restanrant with a dispute going on.4705

Rating: This was the worst restaurant I have ever entered into. To make it worse, I had brought a few Italian friends to have dinner. When we arrived,we were almost 'bullied' into coming in.The food was shocking, and worse was the atmosphere. The waiter and owner were hostile, and( like the other revie) screamed at me when I wanted to check the bill. They couldn't wait to get us to heat, and removed the food before we were even finished. They then (although having a sign for all major credit cards) made some feeble excuse about their machines not working and told us to give them cash.As a result,I couldn't even pay for the dinner. My friends were shocked and kept on saying 'London restaurants are so different to Italy'.I had to explain that this is not the norm.It does give London a bad name, and as a Londoner I was truly ashamed.PLEASE BEWARE THIS IS A VERY BAD PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3860

Rating: Beware of the Golden Oven Indian Restaurant. We were expecting excellent Indian food in Soho, but unfortunately came across the Golden Oven. The food tasted old, the portions were tiny (hardly any meat in the lamb or chicken special), the rice was greasy, the food was loaded with sugar, and when we questioned the portion size, the owners yelled at us. After receiving our bill, the owners billed us for the naan even though it was supposed to be included in my entree. Any one who knows quality Indian food would not pay for such garbage. The Golden Oven gives London a bad name.3458
