Rating: Previous reviews have clearly taken their toll. At lunchtime, the restaurant was distinctly empty. However, service was attentive and pretty good. The food was alright but not Michelin star standard. Food was pretty rather than particularly tasty or memorable. There are plenty of other London restaurants like Fabrizio in St Cross Street EC1 or the Salt Yard in Goodge Street, W1 more deserving of Michelin treatment.7643

Rating: We have eaten here many times and as we live locally were happy to do so again, however, when we walked by at about 5pm last evening, and tried to make an early booking for that evening we were told they were fully booked. This information was barked rudely at us from across the room. As we were walking home after having eaten elsewhere (about 8.15) we noticed that there many empty tables. We went in and questioned the staff who then became quite hostile. We had tried to take advantage of the fixed price menue offer, so perhaps the waiting staff didn't think we were quite flash enough for their place. How arrogant, what lies, how dare they? As we didn't eat, sit down and I wouldn't give the staff a job cleaning my bathroom the rating of 1 seems generous. 5448

Rating: This manageress was as rude as any restaurant employee I've ever met. We are all still staggered. I took my girlfriend, a Principal Ballerina in the Royal Ballet with a senior colleague, to this long supported restaurant on a Friday night beforea Bank Holiday. We discussed getting there by 10.30 crossing London and leaving behind endless goodrestaurants. We arrived 5-10 minutes after we'd advise. Coats were taken, the restaurant full and humming when the manageress strode up. She forced my guests to re-dress saying she had shut the kitchen. Their licence goes to 11.30 but she refused to discuss the rudeness. I pointed out I'd supported the restaurant enormously from the start, instigating rviews, sending senior gourmets and the like. The last lot included an Earl, an enormously fat MP and teir friends. Despite this, passive aggressive, charmless and deeply unpleasant, she offered us a plate of cheese. I pointed out her rudeness and that had her Polish receptionist pointed anything like this out, we'd have gone elsewhere. She was frankly just plain arrogant, rude and ungrateful for years of support. Next time I feel like spending £200-300 it won't be dinner there. From here to eternity. I wrote but they never repliedand have stated they won't by phone. Why be loyal? We had to work hard to find any food after her idiotic behaviour...4300

Rating: Although the food is very good, we experienced VERY poor service. We waited 45 minutes just for our order to be taken, while they pushed the wine & water at us. The courses took forever to be served, even with a restaurant thinning out after 10-10:30pm and generally not a big capacity in the room. We approached the management to express our discontent. A real shame and it was definitely not worth the price spent due to the poor service! Very frustrating and EXPENSIVE evening! Definite room for improvement!3489

Rating: Absolutely brilliant. Regular award winner (last year best restaurant in England, more recently best wine list). Great food and much better value that its equivalents. Smoke free is a bonus.1989

Rating: Always a welcome, the service friendly and the wine list good. The food is out of this world, its unusal in crispy pigs ears and the like but they are, trust me, GREAT. Cheese board is yummy so make room for that too. Have to book in advance as they are always busy. The only trouble is that they don't take large bookings - mind you is that really a problem?1658

Rating: Have eaten here seveal times in past two years. Each time has been memorable not only for the food but also the unobtrusive service - friendly without being pestering. Cannot fault technical expertise of the food and pleasing to see regular changes of menu with reappearance of 'old favourites'. Most recent visit 18/10/02 led to exquisite pumpkin risotto with sweetbreads, perfectly cooked halibut and the baked vacherin - excellent!640

Rating: Excellent 'prix fix' menu at £25. Good (smokeless) environment. Cuisine is distinctly 'Nouvelle'...92
