On the 1st July 2007 smoking will be banned in all public places like pubs and restaurants as well as cinemas, offices, factories and public transport in England...

Smoke 'Em If Ya Got 'Em

Here at LondonEats.com we are in favour of the smoking ban and believe it has been long been overdue in restaurants, but there are some negative issues to consider as well...
- Litter - will the pavements be covered with cigarette butts? Are enough pubs, clubs, restaurants and places of works providing outside ashtrays?
- Smoking on the street - nobody wants to fight their way through crowds of smokers and smoke as they walk down the street
- Public Opinion - a LondonEats.com poll conducted in back in December 2000 was actually a dead-heat between banning and keeping smoking - has public opinion changed since then?
- Traditional Boozers - should punters in pubs that been serving alcohol only (no food) for hundreds of years be allowed to continue smoking?
- Cold Shoulder - will be smokers be in and out of the restaurant front door in between each course?
We would like to hear your views on the above points (or any other smoking related issues), so please drop us an email.
