If you opened a restaurant in London in 2005 it would most likely be Italian and located in either Soho (around Piccadilly Circus) or Kensington.

Over the course of 2005 there has been a terrific number of restaurants opened in London. Purely on LondonEats.com itself we have seen an increase of over 150 restaurants added in the last year.

The following is a list of the most popular food types for the Capital's new restaurants:

1. Italian or Pizza/Pasta

4. Thai

Also popular were American, African and Greek restaurants.

What about location? We are not sure what this says about a particular area if it has a large number of restaurants opening it. The location could be an up and coming area of London, or, it could just be that it has a high turnover of restaurants (ie the last place you would want to open a restaurant if you were in it for the long term).
